Adobe Photoshop CS Down & Dirty Tricks

by Scott Kelby

Scott's books are "page turners." Not in the traditional sense, but more in the eye candy sense. Don't look to these books for step by step training. For that, pick up the H.O.T. book, or Classroom Book from Adobe. Scott's books are also not strong for digging under the hood of Photoshop. If you want to become a master of any of Photoshop's depth of power you'll want to pick up Bert Monory's books, Photoshop Savvy or the Real World Photoshop books. So, you'll need a moderate understanding of Photoshop to really get the most out of this series.

Scott's books are hit-and-run eye candy. Once you start thumbing through the book you'll become infected with the excitement of these tricks. Since the books are about 70% pictures, and very light on text, it will be difficult to resist the urge to dig in.

Down & Dirty Tricks is all about Photoshop CS tricks, but it's also about this version's newest features: the enhanced File Browser, integration with Adobe Raw, color match, and more. Each two-page spread includes step-by-step instructions for creating a Photoshop effect. The margins are filled with productivity-enhancing tips and sidebar comments from Scott. You'll find instructions for creating metal and chrome effects, type treatments, photographic effects, advertising effects, and more. Along the way, you'll encounter all kinds of ideas, advice for creating some of the effects you've wanted to learn.
