A+ Certification, All in one exam guide Michael J. Myers Michael J. Myers' A+ Certification, All in one exam guide Osborne/McGraw-Hill Copyright, 2001 Well written and designed, thorough and complete without being overbearing, enthusiastic to the advanced but not overly simplistic to the beginer, surprisingly FUN for such a heavy subject. Mike Myers' book comes heavily recommended overshadowing others in the competition. He was one of the first to update his work for the 2001 Adaptive COMPTIA exam! Many well taken pictures of computer hardware and well designed artwork for "processing" of system board buses, CPU sockets, ISA slots, Windows 2000 device manager, RS 232 "pin outs", Common AT commands, Microsoft Diagnotics on Windows 4, PLUG-and-PLAY, Cd-Roms, hard drive master boot records, partitioning, platters, sectors, and tracks, and, many other well-investigated subjects. This is a heavy subject that many who pursue the "certification" need help with. Most have some background with computers and or user-support but still need instruction in their lacking areas (or learning gaps) in order to pass the exam. Although COMPTIA supplies objectives to the Hardware CORE and software OS parts of the exam, Myers' book covers instruction and exam prepration in 20 chapters that also cover COMPTIAs exam objectives. The CD includes a demo of Learn-Key's Video Training Series, Total Serminars' Practice Test Software, Pc Technician Shareware/Freeware. All in all, you'll walk away from this book well prepared for the exam and a more intelligent computer techician in the field.
