Joyce reviews:
Generator/Flash
Web Development

With almost any book purchase it helps to know what the authors assume about you. There isn't many books available yet about Generator 2 but this one is a very good start. Don't expect it to teach you all there is to know about Generator though. What is assumed is that you have a basic knowledge of HTML and Client/Server side scripting. A general knowledge of Flash and ActionScripting techniques as well as a bit about database connectivity, SQL, commands and Generator specific coding issues.
___ General topics of ASP scripting for Generator, connecting to a database and working with data sources is covered however. You will be introduced to the offline mode of Generator 2 Developer edition. There is a discussion of the differences between the two modes of the Developer edition and the Enterprise edition of Generator.
___ By the time you finish this very easy to understand and follow book you will have made a dynamic Flash movie with text, graphics and animations from a database. you will go through the entire process of building a mock site. You begin with planning production and brain storming. Then storyboarding and determining the goals of the sites design. You will develop the database, organize the data and access the data. When all these things are done you will make the templates for the dynamic and static elements then design the data-entry tool. Then you wrap it up in the final production of putting all the pieces together.

This book provides a quick and easy overview of what you can accomplish using Generator and Flash, in short, a fully functional, large-content dynamic site.
