to the careful attention to minutiae. All through the book you'll get help that really
helps. Unlike many of the authors writing books today Joyce is sensitive to what
users in the trenches need to learn. Joyce throws in the tidbits you'll need because
she's been there. For instance, where the reader might be oriented to Photoshop,
Joyce points out differences. When there are Fireworks idiosyncracies which are unlike
other programs, she points them out.

formation and vectoring to working with bitmapped images. You'll work with a myriad
of techniques with pens, strokes and fills, then sink your teeth into levels, histograms
and masking. Most of the information is set up in plain, easy to follow numbered
steps. What's really nice is I haven't run across but a few pages so far that don't
have visual examples. This is very important for comparative learning.
___You'll gain experience with the vector tools and
work with the new pop-up menu Javascripting. You'll place Fireworks html code into
the layout editors and generate animations. Through the fifty or so step-by-step
projects you'll cover just about everything you need to know for making Fireworks
really shine in your web site.

techniques gives her unique advantage in the practical application of the techniques.
She does a whole series on techniques built around the creation of navigation buttons
for a web site. You work on real world applications of the techniques and become
immersed in the process of the project rather than the tedium of following the recipe.
